On 18-19 March, CO-OP4CBD’s partners from the French National History Museum (Muséum National d'Histoire Naturelle) hosted a training session for National Focal Points and Experts in Paris, France. The event welcomed 35 participants, consisting of National Focal Points (NFPs) and experts from Central and Eastern European countries.
The training provided a clear overview of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) operations, consultation and decision-making processes, so that experts can participate confidently in CBD meetings. Experts and NFPs were also able to reflect and discuss about some specific regional issues. Finally, particular attention was paid to the science-policy Interface, a core concept in the relationship between experts and policymakers.
During this two days training, participants were able to benefit from the experience of trainers with a long-time involvement in the CBD process as well as some of the best specialists on CBD and science-policy Interface.
This CEECs Regional training will be followed with another CEECs Regional training, that will be held in Budapest between the 25-26 April. It will focus on CBD negotiation techniques and processes. All interested parties in this upcoming event are encouraged to fill in the application form here.
