The CO-OP4CBD Online Training Series on SBSTTA-28 Agenda Items
On 22-29 June 2026, biodiversity experts, policymakers, UN CBD stakeholders, major groups and interested members of the biodiversity community joined the latest CO-OP4CBD training session. This Online Training Series had one main goal: to support participants in understanding the scientific, technical and policy dimensions of the upcoming SBSTTA-28 discussions.
Designed to strengthen engagement in the UN CBD process and contribute to a more effective science-policy interface for biodiversity, these trainings focused on the topics that will be addressed during SBSTTA-28:
- Marine and Coastal Biodiversity;
- Matters Related to IPBES;
- Synthetic Biology;
- Planning, Monitoring, Reporting and Review;
- Programme of Work on Protected Areas;
- Sustainable Wildlife Management.
Presentations on these agenda items were delivered by biodiversity experts, including Ute Jacob (University of Oldenburg), Matt Jones (UNEP-WCMC), Hendrik Segers (RBINS), Juliette Landry (IDDRI), Roos Immerzeel (PBL), Brent Mitchell (IUCN World Commission on Protected Areas), Arina Maraš (Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Northern Region Development - Montenegro) and Fabiana Spinelli (UNEP-WCMC).
