Save the date: CO-OP4CBD training and networking session on Technical and Scientific Cooperation and the Clearing-House Mechanism in the context of the UN CBD

In connection to the European Clearing-House Mechanism (CHM) network as well as and the recent selection of the (sub)regional centres for Technical and Scientific Cooperation (TSC) at COP16 Colombia, CO-OP4CBD is organising a training and networking session for European CHM National Focal Points, CHM experts, technical and scientific, and technical cooperation national staff and experts. 

Organised by the French Museum of Natural History (MNHN) and the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences (RBINS) in the context of the CO-OP4CBD Horizon Europe project, along with the support of IUCN-Med as one of the 3 hosts of the European sub-regional TSC centres, this event will take place in Málaga, Spain, between 18 and 20 November 2025. 

The training will focus on the following elements: 

  • overview of the SBSTTA-27 items and recommendations related to TSC

  • an update from the TSC Informal Advisory Group's recent meetings and the documents that will guide negotiations at the 6th session of the Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI6) 

  • introduction to the UN CBD governance structures, including the CHM's new Working Plan 

  • presentation of tools such as Bioland and others for the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KM GBF) monitoring and reporting  

  • best practices to increase and strengthen TSC in the context of the UN CBD and the KM GBF

  • opportunities to meet and network with other TSC and CHM stakeholders as well as the sub-regional TSC centre from Europe.  

Led and delivered by prestigious experts and representatives from a great variety of organisations and national contexts, the sessions will be a great opportunity to increase knowledge dissemination on TSC- and CHM-related topics and make connections with and between TSC experts/practitioners  

The full agenda for the event is currently being finalised and will be shared in due course 

If you are a European TSC expert/ practitioner/ CHM National Focal Point or an expert interested or already involved in the TSC UN CBD processes, please register via this form before 12 September 2025. As places are limited, a selection will be made by the CO-OP4CBD team based on the relevance of your profile and expertise. Selected candidates will be informed of their selection by mid-October 2025 

Please note that the travel, accommodation and meal expenses of the selected participants will be covered by the CO-OP4CBD project.
