Upcoming CO-OP4CBD workshop and networking session for CEE UN CBD National Focal Points

CO-OP4CBD is organising a workshop and networking session for UN CBD National Focal Points (NFPs), participants in previous event organised by the project and experts who have registered to the CO-OP4CBD’s dedicated expert database supporting the Convention in Biological Diversity (UN CBD) and its processes.

  • What: CO-OP4CBD regional workshop and networking session for CEE UN CBD National Focal Points and experts
  • When: 8–10 June 2026, please provide feedback by 30 March
  • Where: Budapest, Hungary

The HUN-REN Center for Ecological Research (HUN-REN CER) is organising a regional networking session for Central and Eastern European UN CBD National Focal Points (NFPs) and experts in Budapest, Hungary, on 8–10 June 2026.

The event is planned as a three-day workshop, with half-day sessions on the first and last days and a full-day programme in between. It takes place in the context of the CO-OP4CBD project and is supported by the French Museum of Natural History (MNHN) and the Biodiversity and Gene Conservation Department, Hungarian Ministry of Agriculture (AM).

Aim: The workshop is a follow-up of previous targeted regional training sessions organised in the framework of CO-OP4CBD (January 2024, March 2024, April 2024). More specifically, this workshop is designed specifically for CEE countries, with emphasis on Armenia, as host of UN CBD COP17.

The workshop will focus on the following topics:

  • UN CBD processes, negotiation techniques, expert engagement to strengthen the participation of CEE NFPs and biodiversity experts in UN CBD meetings;
  • exchange of experience regarding the recent NR7 reporting;
  • preparations for COP17;
  • the European Subregional Technical and Scientific Cooperation Support Centre (TSCC);
  • overview and status of the Clearing-House Mechanism (CHM);
  • challenges of addressing Article 8(j) and IP&LC in Europe.

Sessions will be led by distinguished experts and representatives from a wide range of organisations and national contexts. They will provide an excellent opportunity to deepen knowledge of the above key topics, as well as to network with fellow participants, facilitating the exchange of experiences and best practices among representatives from various countries.
